Parkinson’s is still elusive.

Ineke provides dance therapy to people with Parkinson’s. She began doing this after losing her husband to the disease. In this way, she keeps him a little closer to her. During her classes, she sees how people with Parkinson’s dare to move again, regain confidence, and briefly escape the disease. Movement helps, but there is still so much we do not know about Parkinson’s.
Parkinson’s disease remains elusive. It is currently the fastest-growing brain disease in the world. More research is urgently needed to improve treatment and to work toward a future without Parkinson’s. Don’t let this story end here…

The science behind Parkinson’s

Erik Scherder, neuropsychologist and professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam: “Movement and music have a positive effect on the brain and can support people with Parkinson’s in their daily functioning. However, we still do not know how to stop the disease. That is why more scientific research is urgently needed.”

A cure for Parkinson’s disease

Since 1997, we have been working towards a better life for people with Parkinson’s and their families, fighting every day to defeat the disease once and for all.

Deep Brain Stimulation improves quality of life

Every day is a battle for people with Parkinson’s, not only against the disease itself, but also against side effects such as impulse control disorders. These side effects make life difficult for both patients and their loved ones. But there is hope, thanks to the groundbreaking research of Prof. Dr Rob de Bie at Amsterdam UMC, aimed at improving the quality of life for people with Parkinson’s disease.

ParkinsonFonds - for research and scientific collaboration

For over 27 years, we have been funding fundamental research into Parkinson’s disease. Finding a cure for Parkinson’s, that is our mission. If we discover the cause, we can develop possible medication and a cure, so that we can defeat Parkinson’s for good. No cause, no solution.

Support the very best research into Parkinson’s

Preventing or curing Parkinson’s disease, that is our goal. To achieve this, we fund vital research by leading medical experts and scientists. To date, there have been more than 90 of these studies.
