About the foundation

A solution for Parkinson’s disease, that is the ultimate goal of the Dutch Parkinson Foundation (ParkinsonFonds). That’s why we fund important research carried out by leading medical experts and scientists. In addition, we aim to provide information about Parkinson’s disease and its impact through our newsletters, this website, mailings, and brochures.

Our work

So far, we have been able to invest over €27 million in promising research into Parkinson’s disease. Valuable studies that bring us one step closer to a cure for this life changing illness, and that help improve the quality of life for patients and their loved ones. Much has already been achieved, but unfortunately, we’re not there yet. Thorough research into the causes, effects, treatments and solutions is costly and takes time. And it is absolutely essential, especially now that Parkinson’s is being diagnosed more and more often, in both young and old.

Ongoing need for research

There are already more than 65,000 people in the Netherlands living with Parkinson’s disease. And with an ageing population, the number of diagnoses will only continue to rise. It’s time to put a stop to this disease, and the only way to do that is by investing even more in research.

Entirely dependent on donors

All our income comes from fundraising and donations from people who recognise that Parkinson’s disease deserves urgent attention. It is only thanks to their greatly valued support that we can fund vital research.

Every donation makes a difference

ParkinsonFonds is certified by the Dutch government as an ANBI (Public Benefit Organisation). We are also a recognised charity by the CBF (Central Bureau on Fundraising). This offers extra assurance that every donation is put to good use!
